Charlton House, Bannatyne Hotel, Restaurant and Spa, Shepton Mallet, Somerset; stunning. From food to drink, rooms to spa, simply put; this is a must-go-to destination. Wow! From the warm welcome to a stately stay, this place oozes gentrification, whether enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner, the attention to detail was impeccable. that aside, the service was second to none. If that wasn;t enough, seeing as I had travelled from Kent to Somerset to try this place on recommendation, to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place would be an understatement.

Complements aside, Charlton House (a Bannatyne Hotel) in Charton Mackrell, Shepton Mallet beautifully situated in South Somerset near the Mendip Hills, offered subliem food and drink which was delivered with sophictation, elegance and a friendly smile.

Upon arrival, my bags were taken and was escorted to the bar where aperitifs were had following a long drive! After ordering a couple of seventeen year old rum, namely Havana Club Dark Rums, I resided to the Drawing Room while I took in the beautiful decor. Following drinks, I retreated to the spa where I enjoyed a Hyrdrotherapy Pool, an outdoor steaming Turkish Bath, a Hot Tub, Steam Room, Sauna and a (find our name of cool steam room / sauna) before getting some treatments in the spa, so I was more than ready to peruse the evening dinner menu.

As expected, the menu had some fantastic choices on it which made it somewhat hard to choose from. Nevertheless, after some deliberation, I proceeded to order the Shin of Beef,`locally sourced and served with fresh vegetables and a bed of mash. The 38-Day Mature Steak was also very good and was cooked to perfection so picking a main course took a little longer than usual!

The room I stayed in at Charlton House was beautiful. The decor had a Country Estate feel and had upcycled shabby-chic meets antique finish to throughout this gorgeous country manor house. With the lawn tennis court to play on before lunch was a nice touch too.
