Beals Barn Gardens, Cafe Restaurant, Wadhurst, Sussex is a fabulous little hideaway, which even to this day is still Wadhurst’s top secret lunch spots! Beals Barn Gardens, tucked behind the beautiful surroundings of the Bewl Water reservoir sat right on the East Sussex – West Kent border, this picturesque part of the world has a gem of an eatery hidden away off the beaten track. So much so, even locals have yet to discover it!

Once found, the modest barn sits adjacent to their well kept allotment, where the majority of produce sold at Beals Barn Gardens come from. Simple ingredients put together perfectly in humble surroundings, with friendly staff and great views over the allotment from inside and outside the cafe. I always get excited when I find spots like this and would go as far as saying it is up there with the best! Even the wild flower displays on each table are from the allotment which are handpicked and arranged regularly.

Their produce is of the highest quality and enjoy seeing what cakes they have prepared that day when i’m in the area. Simple ingredients, put together with an heir of sophistication and a pride about the produce they serve. On my last visit I had their heavenly
