The Charles Dickens, Gastro Pub and Restaurant, Broadstairs, Kent

The Charles Dickens gastro pub pub and restaurant, Broadstairs, Kent is a beautiful pub found on the promenade on the corner of Victoria Parade before the beach. A great location for a spot of lunch before an afternoon stroll along the beach… exactly what I did when on my last visit to this cracking pub overlooking Viking Bay.

With a decent selection of cask ales and keg beers on draught, I decided to order a pint from The Ramsgate Brewery Gadd’s No3 (a premium pale ale weighing in at 5.0% ABV from the East Kent brewery). In hindsight, I should have ordered a crisp white wine that day as the fresh scent of steamed muscles and chips came out from the kitchen. As I sat down looking out over sea views of Viking Bay, I started to feel peckish so grabbed a menu and ordered food.

Whenever i’m near the sea, I enjoy nothing more than eating fresh fish and listening to the sound of the water. After smelling the delicious scent of the fresh muscles throughout the pub, i was craving whatever the waiter had just brought out from the kitchen! Muscles it was. After perusing the menu I went to the bar and ordered Moules et Frites (Muscles and Chips). Presented beautifully with generous crusts of fresh homemade bread, the muscles were cooked in garlic, with onion, white wine, cream and parsley served alongside freshly baked bread and rustic fries all for £12.95. Not bad at all! Fantastic quality, pub prices.

A traditional, renovated Victorian inn serving a mix of modern and classic cuisine in a first-floor restaurant. A great place to eat and drink. Ideal for lunchtime visits, with with sea views and great food, The Charles Dickens pub in Broadstairs is one to check out! Whether you want to pass away an hour or three, enjoy a well stocked bar or enjoy a fresh and reasonably priced menu in the beautiful seaside setting of Viking Bay, Broadstairs, Kent, I can highly recommend it.
