Pho Cafe is a Vietnamese Street Food Restaurant in Fitzrovia, London and is arguably the best restaurant I have eaten at. After being fortunate enough to try a couple of Vietnamese restaurants and cafes in the past and one I used to go to a lot in Crystal Palace, South East London, namely the Urban Orient in Crystal Palace, now I had the taste for it I jumped at the opportunity to try some more Vietnamese dishes at Pho Cafe the other side of the water. After an impromtu trip to the London Palladium, Pho Cafe… then on to see The Stone Roses at Wembley, Pho Cafe will always have a special place in my heart and, to this day is arguably still my favourite place to grab a bite to eat!
A cool little Vietnamese restaurant tucked behind Oxford Street, walking distance from the hustle and bustle of the shops, this restaurant is a real find! With a simple, fresh menu and friendly staff with a super chilled interior, in my opinion, although referred to as a cafe, this restaurant is up there with the very best Vietnamese restaurant in town.
The Simple menu had a number of traditional Vietnamese street food dishes, presented beautifully with a modern twist on noodle soup and street food dishes. The drinks were equally as good and sampled a couple of beers and a house special cocktail of the day, which was a fresh Lemongrass, ginger, bamboo shoot, chilli and soda. Something I had never tried before and now crave every summer! So refreshing, packs a punch with fresh lemongrass cutting through the after kick of the chilli. Delicious!
The Vietnamese style chicken wings were also great. Crisp on the outside with a texture a little similar to Jungle Chicken, while retaining moisture inside giving a succulent crunch to a moreish dish! The chicken wings were served with herbs, spices, mixed leaves and some Sriracha Chilli dip for good measure.
