Tacos Locos, Mexican Tapas Restaurant, Canterbury, Kent
Tacos Locos, Mexican Tapas Restaurant, Canterbury is a Mexican tapas restaurant in Kent, serving a variety of Mexican dishes and cocktails. On my visit to Canterbury I was heading to Chimichanga but ended up trying Tacos Locos for the first time on the recommendation of a regular. Following a vibrant reception from staff (and decor), we were escorted to one of a couple of available tables. With a number of birthday parties taking place, the atmosphere was rather lively but sat right with the restaurant. With vibrant pink walls, striped flooring and a menu loaded with Mexican tapas dishes, I grabbed myself a beer and perused the menu.

For starters I grabbed a starter called ‘Muchos Nachos’. This was a dish with mountains of hand cut tortilla chips topped with cheese, tomato salsa, guacamole, sour cream & jalapeño peppers which was great for sharing. As I sipped my Mojito, I ordered a couple of other main dishes. Seeing as I was in Rome so to speak, I thought i’d try the ‘Tacos Locos® famous Fajitas’. These were served as flame grilled strips of marinated steak, mild peppers and onions which arrived sizzling with a side presentation of guacamole, sour cream, tomato salsa, pico de gallo, Mexican cheese and warm tortillas. A great texture, combining a combination of tender strips of marinated steak, the crisp crunch of the tortilla coupled with smooth, creamy sour cream and refreshing guacamole, a classic fajita packed full of Mexican flavour and authenticity.

I also ordered a Chimichanga which was a large flour tortilla fried golden brown and packed with fillings, including Mexican cheese and beans which was served with Mexican rice, sour cream, guacamole & black bean salsa. I also had a cocktail here which was refreshing.
