Pitcher and Piano, Bar, Brighton, East Sussex
Pitcher and Piano is a modern chain bar serving beer, wine and cocktails, with grazing plates and pub classics available too. They also have live entertainment on selected nights, including music every other Wednesday.

My first impressions of the Pitcher and Piano were great. With a decent frontage, and gorgeous decor throughout, I got myself to the bar to peruse the drinks menu.

With an pretty average selection of gins, this didn’t deter me from ordering one, and in hindsight, I’m glad I did! Although the Pitcher and Piano had your usual suspects behind the bar, I was somewhat surprised to not see any local gins on offer, like the Brighton gin for example. Nevertheless, my drink was prepared with diligence and quality garnish.

As an fan of Ophir Gin, it wasn’t a deal breaker and ordered with a lemon zest peel and fresh rosemary to accompany the spiced gin. I had this with a bottle of Aromatic Fever Tree. A refreshing, savoury accompliament to what was a perfectly made gin and tonic!

With a limited selection of beers on draft too, I decided to go for the only craft beer they had on the pumps. Not a bad drop either, but couldn’t help but feel that there should have been other options on the taps.

That said, the decor was neat, tidy and elegant. With a sunken indoor garden area towards the front of the building, and a large space to the middle and rear sections of the pub, the long bar felt both spacious and comfortable at the time of my visit.

Having said that, the Pitcher and Piano in Brighton does get particularly busy at weekends, especially Friday and Saturday evenings, so please do bare that in mind if you were considering going on either of these days.

The Pitcher and Piano provides a relaxed, sophisticated environment to enjoy food and drinks. In addition to this, the P&P also lends itself well to small groups as a meeting space and party groups too, with plenty of additional seating filling the the gaps at peak times.

The staff were courteous, attentive and friendly, and the bar was clean and tidy throughout.
