JD Wetherspoon Gin Festival 2019

JD Wetherspoon are celebrating great British gins, twenty-eight in fact, all handpicked and produced with love from England, Scotland and Wales from Thursday 14th February (Valentine’s Day) to Sunday 3rd March 2019.

With a variety of gins to chose from, lending themselves to citrus, floral, fruit, herbaceous, spice and juniper botanicals (for the purist), we decided to take a closer look at what’s on the menu in this years gin festival at Wetherspoons. Without any further ado, here’s the tasting notes from this years gin festival (in alphabetical order).

1. Aberfalls Orange Marmalade Gin, Aberfalls, Wales (41.3% ABV)
A refined balnace of sweet and biter orange flavours, with the pine flavour of juniper: a citrus hit, with warming aftertaste. Best served with an orange and rosemary garnish and a splash of cranberry juice.

2. Adnams Copper House Pink Gin, Suffolk, England (40% ABV)
Fresh and fruity gin made using original Copper House, with a dash of raspberry. Best served with mint and orange garnish and a splash of R White’s Raspberry Lemonade.

3. Bloom Jasmine and Rose Gin, Warrington, Cheshire, England (40% ABV)
A delicate pink gin with floral flavours and a fragrant aromas of rose and jasmine. Best served with strawberry garnish.

4. Bombay Saphire, Laverstoke, England (40% ABV)
A unique vapour-infusion method provides this popular gins distinct flavour. Best served with lime garnish and a splash of Fentimans Pink Grapefruit Tonic.

5. Brockmans, Birmingham, England (40% ABV)
This gin’s unique use of dried blueberries and blackberries gives a soft fruity character and distinctive flavour. Best served with pink grapefruit and blueberries.

6. Caorunn, Gratown-on-Spey, Scotland (41.8% ABV)
Made with five hand-forged Celtic botanicals, rowanberry, heather, bog myrtle, dandelion, Coul Blush apple, in the Speyside region of the Scottish Highlands. Best served with with apple.

7. Darnley’s Spiced Gin, Fifth, Scotland (42.7% ABV)
Warming botanticals found as far afield as Africa, Morocco and China, create a contemporary gin with hints of mixed spice, ginger and orange zest. Best served with orange and lime, with a splash of Britvic Ginger Ale.

8. Didsbury Gin Raspberry and Elderflower, Manchester, England (37.5% ABV)
Didsbury Gin infused with British raspberries and English elderflower. Best served with lime and mint, with a splash of Sanpellegrino Lemon.

9. Eden Mill Love Gin Liqueur, St Andrews Scotland (20% ABV)
Combination of Madagascan vanilla, Croatian juniper, goji berry, rose petal and Scottish raspberry creates a complex and decadent flavour profile, evocative of Turkish delight and top quality raspberry ripple ice cream. Best served with strawberries and blueberries.

10. Edinburgh Gin Raspberry Liqueur, Edinburgh, Scotland (20% AVB)
This gin infuses Edinburgh gin with Perthshire raspberries. Best served with lime.

11. Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger Liqueur, Edinburgh, Scotland (20% ABV)
Rhubarb spiked with oriental ginger and infused with Edinburgh Gin. Best served with lemon garnish and a splash of Britvic ginger ale.

12. Finni’s Black Bee Gin, West Yorkshire, England (37.5 ABV)
This gin captures the unique floral taste of heather, delicately flavoured with the finiest honey, extracted from British native black bees. Best served with orange and a splash of R White’s lemonade.

13. Ginting, Birmingham, England (42.5% ABV)
This clear, fresh, fruity gin uses the finest botanicals and natural flavours, infused with passionfruit, mango and elderflower. Best served with strawberry and a splash of Ting.

14. Gordon’s, Leven, Scotland (37.5 ABV)
It’s refreshing tastes come from handpicked juniper berries and botanicals. Best served with lime.

15. Gordon’s Pink Gin, Leven, Scotland (37.5% ABV)
Gordon’s, with the natural sweetness of raspberries and strawberries. Best served with strawberries and a splash of R White’s lemonade.

16. Greenhall’s Wild Berry Gin, Lancashire, England (37.5% ABV)
Greenhall’s Gin is infused with blackberries and raspberries, creating juicy berry notes, with warming spice and juniper. Best served with strawberry garnish.

17. Hendrick’s Gin, Girvan, Scotland (41.4% ABV)
Premium Scottish gin infused with cumcumber and rose. Best served with cucumber.

18. Portobello Road, London, England (42% ABV)
A big juniper hit, with hints of lemon, orange, liquorice and cassia bark. Best served with pink grapefruit garnish and a can of Ting.

19. Quick Gin, Lancashire, England (40.5% ABV)
Distilled with ten botanicals and infused with orange to create a fruity, spicy finish. Best served with orange garnish.

20. Tanqueray, Leven, Scotland (43.1% ABV)
A blend of the purist four-times-distilled spirit, with handpicked botanicals. Best served with lime garnish.

21. Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla, Leven, Scotland (41.3% ABV)
Tanqueray gin infused with Seville oranges and orange blossom. Bets served with orange garnish.

22. Tanqueray No. 10, Leven, Scotland (47.3% ABV)
Handcrafted from 180 years of heritage in small, perfectly balanced batches. Best served with pink grapefruit garnish.

23. Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin, Cornwall, England (38% ABV)
Tarquin’s Cornish gin infused with rhubarb and raspberries to give the gin it’s beautiful blush. Best served with strawberry and mint garnish, with a dash of Britvic Ginger Ale.

24. The Lakes Damson Gin Liqueur, Cumbira, England (25% ABV)
The Lakes Gin flavoured with damsons to provide a smooth spirit, with a fruity taste. The Lakes Distillery is one of the only distilleries located in a prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site. Best served with lemon and a splash of Britic Bitter Lemon.

25. Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin, Northampton, England (30% ABV)
This intensely fruity and not overly sweet liqueur is bursting with notes of cherry and almond. Best served with a lime and mint garnish and a splash of Britvic Bitter Lemon.

26. Whitley Neill Raspberry Gin, Liverpool, England (43% ABV)
This delicate, fruity gin has a lasting, citrus, raspberry flavour. Best served with lemon garnish.

27. Zymurgorium Realm of the Unicorn Gin Liqueur, Manchester, England (20% ABV)
Premium English Gin containing twenty-one botantical, blended with natural vanilla, to create the delicious taste of toasted marshmallows, with a little magic unicorn dust sprinkled in for added sparkle! Best served with strawberry garnish.

28. Zymurgorium Sweet Violet Liqueur, Manchester, England (18.7% ABV)
Sweet violets, with a unique sweet pastel-like taste, have been refined with over twenty other botanicals in the Zymurgorium gin. Best served with lime garnish and a splash of R White’s lemonade.
